Glaucoma treatment is chosen based on the type of glaucoma, the severity of damage at diagnosis, and how quickly it's progressing in each patient. At Vision Clinic we follow a stepped approach:
Pressure-lowering drops
First-line treatment for most patients, to reduce intraocular pressure.
SLT laser
An in-office outpatient procedure that improves eye drainage without surgery.
Filtering or device-based surgery
Reserved for cases that aren't controlled with drops or laser, or with more advanced damage.
There's no single treatment: the goal is always the same — protecting the optic nerve fibers that remain — but the path to get there is tailored to each patient and reassessed at every follow-up visit.
