When an eye has been lost — due to trauma, disease, or after evisceration or enucleation surgery — a custom ocular prosthesis can be fitted, restoring a natural, symmetrical appearance to the face.
The prosthesis is fitted once the socket has fully healed, and it's customized in color, shape, and size to blend as naturally as possible with the healthy eye.
Over time, the prosthesis and the socket require periodic check-ups: polishing the prosthesis, adjusting its size, and monitoring the health of the socket tissue, to maintain both comfort and cosmetic results long-term.
