Ocular Prosthesis Fitting

Fitting and follow-up of ocular prostheses for patients with an anophthalmic socket.

General description

When the eyeball has been lost due to surgery, trauma, or disease, fitting an orbital prosthesis restores symmetry and a natural look. Dr. Cristina Plata monitors the health of the anophthalmic socket and coordinates the fabrication and fitting of your prosthesis for the best possible cosmetic result and comfort.

What does treatment involve?

The ocular prosthesis is custom-made for each patient and adjusted in-office to achieve movement and an appearance that are as natural as possible. Dr. Cristina Plata evaluates the anophthalmic socket, coordinates the fabrication of the prosthesis with the ocularist, and makes any necessary adjustments.

Care during treatment

Regular cleaning of the prosthesis and periodic check-ups of the anophthalmic socket are recommended to maintain its health and comfort over the long term.

Follow-up

Dr. Cristina Plata provides ongoing follow-up on the health of your anophthalmic socket and the fit of your prosthesis over time.
