ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens)
Implantable intraocular lens for high prescriptions, preserving the natural lens.
General description
The ICL is a phakic intraocular lens implanted inside the eye without removing the natural lens — an ideal alternative for patients with high myopia or astigmatism, or corneas that are not candidates for laser surgery. It offers excellent optical quality and is a reversible procedure, since the lens can be removed or replaced if needed.
What does the surgery involve?
The ICL is implanted through a micro-incision and placed between the iris and the natural lens, without removing any of the eye's own tissue. It's an outpatient surgery of about 15–20 minutes per eye, generally done under topical or local anesthesia.
Post-surgical care
Some light sensitivity and blurry vision in the first few hours is normal. Antibiotic and anti-inflammatory drops are prescribed for 1–2 weeks, along with avoiding eye rubbing and strenuous activity for the first few days. We include, at no cost, the post-surgical kit with starter drops.
Post-surgical follow-up
We provide close follow-up in the days and weeks after surgery to check lens position and eye pressure, always with the same surgeon who performed your implant, including one month of consultations at no cost.
