General description

LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) is one of the most widely performed refractive procedures in the world. It reshapes the cornea with a high-precision excimer laser to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism, reducing or eliminating dependence on glasses or contact lenses. The procedure is outpatient, painless, and visual recovery is typically fast. Before surgery we perform a comprehensive corneal evaluation to confirm each patient is a safe candidate.

What does the surgery involve?

The surgery is outpatient: it's performed the same day and you go home right after, with no hospital stay required. It takes 10–15 minutes per eye, uses only anesthetic eye drops (no needles or sedation), and is virtually painless. Visual recovery is fast — most patients notice a marked improvement within the first 24 hours.

Post-surgical care

In the first few days you should get relative rest and avoid rubbing your eyes, and wear protective shields while sleeping. Antibiotic and anti-inflammatory drops are prescribed for the first week, along with lubricating drops for several weeks to keep the corneal surface comfortable while it heals. At Vision Clinic we include, at no extra cost, a post-surgical kit with your starter treatment drops so you leave the clinic with everything you need.

Post-surgical follow-up

Post-operative follow-up is just as important as the surgery itself, which is why it is always carried out by the same surgeon who performed your procedure — no one knows the details of your case better. We include one month of follow-up consultations at no cost, to monitor your healing and answer any questions during this key stage of recovery.
